Become an Exchange Student

Exchange Program Options

One-Way Exchange

NWSE selects a host family and school for you in the country in which you wish to study. We provide you and your host family caring supervision and support throughout your entire program. We recommend that you apply early to ensure there is sufficient time and availability for your placement.

Reciprocal Exchange – an exchange experience for TWO

Similar to the One-Way Exchange, NWSE selects a host family and school in the country in which you wish to study, AND your own family or friends of yours “reciprocally” host an NWSE exchange student for a semester or academic year. This can happen before, during or after your own program abroad. You can host a student from your host country or from another country: This offers you a significantly lower program fee!

* Please check with NWSE for the availability of reciprocal exchanges with the country of your choice.

Direct/Private Exchange

If you already know a potential host family in the country where you wish to study, NWSE will be happy to consider you for this program. Register online and NWSE will screen the suggested host family as we do for all exchanges. Acceptance to the direct placement program depends on whether the school and family placement you suggested can be secured and fulfills program requirements.

Please check the NWSE exchange countries page for availability and lower fees for this Direct Exchange program option.

US F-1 Private School Exchange Program

The F-1 program offers plenty of choices to help you achieve your exchange goals. You may choose a specific geographical area, to live with a family member, to study in the US for more than one year, and even to graduate from a US high school. You may also select a school that best fits your academic interests or particular extra-curricular activities, such as a sport or arts program. F-1 students are typically placed with a host family or in a dormitory and benefit from NWSE supervision services, if applicable. For additional information, please download our F-1 Exchange Program flyer or register online.
